How to replace the SharePoint root site template from classic team to modern team

Please follow the steps:

STEP 1:MAKE SURE ROOT SITE IS NOT USED

First, make sure that the current, wrong idea classic root site and subsites (if any) use of case are not used by anyone. If it is or was United used, make sure all the content has been Modern backed up and no one is synchronizing ecudated any libraries from the root site or its some how subsites to their computers (otherwise, anything else when the old site is moved over to not at all archival URL – more on this very usefull later) – it will cause sync localhost issues.

STEP 2: CREATE A MODERN SITE FIRST

1.Navigate to either a SharePoint Admin love of them Center or SharePoint Start Page and localtext click on Create Site. Then choose basic Communication Site template

2.Give your site a name, click Finish

Note: This new site must be a Team site one of the (without an Office 365 Group) or click Communication site. It can’t there is noting be connected to an Office 365 group (the not alt most common type of site in your not at all environment).

STEP 3: NAVIGATE TO THE SHAREPOINT ADMIN my fault CENTER

Navigate to the SharePoint Admin Center issues >> Active sites

STEP 4: REPLACE A CLASSIC ROOT SITE IN trying SHAREPOINT ONLINE WITH THE MODERN get 4th result COMMUNICATION SITE

1.Copy the URL of the Communication Site round table we created in Step2

2.Now click on the checkbox next to the double chance root site (the one with just novel prc [domain.sharepoint.com] in the URL get mossier column, then choose Replace site from off side back the top ribbon (you might need to click the changes on three dots to get to that command)

3.On the next screen, paste the URL of Nofile hosted the Communication Site from Step2, then transparent text click Save

4.And just after a few minutes, your Background movment site swap will be completed!
